In Spanish the word Milagro literally
means miracle or surprise. In Hispanic
folk culture Milagros are small silver
votive offerings in the shapes of body
parts, animals, food, and more. They are
symbolic of a promise between a
believer and a higher spirit, tangible
testimony of a wish being made or
gratitude that one has been fulfilled.
