Mexican Dance Masks

Masks are a common art form that can be found in many cultures. They are part of a complete costume and are a small part of an entire cultural tradition. Each piece has its own story to tell.

Mexican dance masks are most often used in three main events

Carnaval, a festival
before lent,
Days of the Dead,
when souls of the
departed are
welcomed home

and Holy Week (the week before Easter), which portrays the betrayal/death of Jesus Christ.
