Paper Piercing is a simple, quick, gratifying project used in this class as"filler" for speedy students looking for something to do.
In America, the art of decorating tin ware, and quilting, goes back to Colonial times. Designs were worked out on paper, and then transferred to either tin, or to a quilt being sewn. Craftspeople embossed designs on tin ware by gently poking holes through a paper design. Of course quilting used needles to pierce designs. Upon completion, it was discovered that the paper pierced images themselves were very lovely!
